Provisional 2026 dates, with visitor arrangements still to come
A Christmas market and festival at Naksan Beach Square is provisionally planned for December 23–27, 2026. Daily hours, ticketing and registration are still to come, so those dates do not mean visitor bookings are open.
For travelers already visiting Yangyang or following a Sokcho itinerary, it is a useful potential addition. If one performance is the entire reason for the trip, wait for operational details before committing to non-refundable accommodation. Keep the itinerary flexible until the actual entry arrangements are available.
A tree, choir-led celebrations and local stalls
The proposal combines a large Christmas tree, lighting ceremony, singing-tree choir and photo zone with seasonal goods, food stalls and activities. Its arts-education component mentions choral participation and wreath or ornament making. These are proposed categories, not confirmed public drop-in sessions.
The concept links local arts with the beach neighborhood rather than offering only a hotel-lobby tree. If visitor workshops are subsequently announced, one activity followed by time around the main display may be a better fit than scheduling the entire evening tightly. The tree’s height and lighting design are still to be announced. “Singing tree” refers to a choir concept, not an announced mechanical-tree show.

Locate Naksan Beach in Yangyang, not Naksan Park in Seoul
The beach reference address is 59 Haemaji-gil, Yangyang-gun: 양양군 해맞이길59. Search 낙산해변 or 낙산해수욕장, and retain “Yangyang” in the destination. Naksan Park in Seoul is a different place despite the similar English name. County beach information
This locates the beach area, not a finalized Christmas entrance. When a site plan appears, save the actual stage, public access point and taxi pickup separately. Businesses along the coast are not necessarily managed by the festival: a café remaining open does not prove that lights or activities continue for the same hours.
The last walk starts at Naksan Bus Terminal
Allow approximately five minutes to walk from Naksan Bus Terminal to the beach. Treat that as ordinary beach access, not a promise that an unannounced festival stage will be five minutes away. Distinguish the Naksan stop from Yangyang’s integrated bus terminal when checking intercity services. beach access guidance
For a Sokcho-based trip, our Seoul–Sokcho transport guide covers the larger approach; then check the actual local bus or taxi journey from your accommodation to Naksan. Being on the same coast does not remove the need for a return plan. An evening performance may finish after the most convenient daytime connections. Save the accommodation, beach and departure stop together in Korean map apps, and share those pins within your group.
Budget separately for beach access and festival activities
Ordinary beach entry is free year-round. That does not establish free Christmas workshops, meals or every service proposed for the square. Daily festival hours, materials charges, capacity and cancellation arrangements still require the relevant visitor notice rather than assumptions drawn from general beach information. Ordinary beach access
Families can begin with a simple target: one tree photograph and one suitable activity, with food and transport budgeted separately. Waiting in coastal wind for a choir is different from a moving daytime stroll. Bring wind-resistant outerwear and gloves, secure small loose belongings, and keep strollers or tripods out of passageways. Follow closures around the waterfront instead of approaching the sea purely to improve a photograph.
A daytime temple visit, then a separate beach evening
If the event proceeds as planned, consider Naksansa Temple during daylight before returning to the beach. The temple address is 100 Naksansa-ro, with ordinary entry until 17:30 and departure required by 18:30; check the arrangements for your day. The temple is not a nighttime extension of the Christmas venue. Temple visitor information
Do not compress temple walking, seaside photography and a workshop into one hour. A more comfortable structure is a daytime half-day and a separate festive segment, kept flexible until the actual programme is available. In poor weather or after a programme change, retain the option of an indoor meal and an earlier return rather than staying outside simply to satisfy an old itinerary.
What to check before making the final journey
Use the Yangyang Cultural Foundation for the latest notice, then reconcile four things: venue, operating days, performance times and costs. The annual plan explains the project’s direction; a final visitor announcement is the appropriate basis for transfers, restaurant bookings or activity registration. If a newer organizer notice differs from the plan, the newer arrangements take priority.
Choose accommodation that also supports your original beach or temple itinerary. That way, a change to the evening festival does not undermine the whole trip. This guide helps identify the correct area and travel choices, but does not guarantee a proposed performance or convert a work-plan date into an admission reservation.
FAQ
Can I book workshops using the planned dates now?
Not from the annual plan alone. Wait for the organizer’s actual participation or registration notice.
Does free beach entry mean every Christmas activity is free?
No. Ordinary access and festival materials, food or services are separate matters.
Is this at Seoul’s Naksan Park?
No. The proposed venue is Naksan Beach in Yangyang, Gangwon-do.
